Experience the Eagle Difference in
Elfin Cove, Alaska

Discover the unique “Eagle Difference” at Elfin Cove’s top guided fishing lodge. Located on the remote northwest coast of Chichagof Island, Eagle Charters Lodge gives anglers quick access to some of Southeast Alaska’s finest fishing spots. In addition to its varied fishing grounds, Eagle Charters combines home-like comfort with the convenience of an all-inclusive resort.

Elfin Cove’s waters are teeming with baitfish and marine life, giving halibut plenty of opportunity to grow big. We fish in areas that average around 200 feet deep and benefit from relatively calm tidal exchanges. Our experienced captains are dedicated to finding the best and calmest water, earning us a reputation for reliably helping clients catch impressive fish. During your visit, it’s common to reel in halibut over 100 pounds—the lodge record stands at an incredible 434-pounder!

Salmon migrating from areas such as the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska travel through Cross Sound and Icy Strait, feeding on plentiful baitfish along the way. Our captains are very familiar with the salmon travel lanes and skillfully fish these waters. While on our stable and comfortable boats, you'll troll for salmon depending on the conditions. Trolling using downriggers is both common and highly effective.

The vast majority of waters we fish are relatively calm. In other areas you can get some tide swings up to 24 feet, but here in Elfin Cove the average tidal range is 8.6 feet. As a result, the likelihood of experiencing sea sickness is significantly reduced. We are committed to providing a fishing experience in calm waters.

The salmon season runs from May to September. King salmon typically weigh around 20 pounds and can reach over 60 pounds—the lodge record is 62 pounds. Coho salmon, also known as silvers, usually weigh about 10 pounds but can grow up to 20 pounds.  We are confident you will agree Elfin Cove offers some of the best salmon fishing in Alaska.

Not only does our region feature excellent halibut and salmon fishing, but it also boasts various Rock Fish species such as Black Rock Fish, Duskies, Yelloweyes, and other pelagic and non-pelagic varieties. Besides halibut, you might encounter deep-water fish like Black cod, Shortrakers, and other deep demersal rockfish depending on the weather conditions. Ling Cod are abundant here as well.
